Leslie Berry

Leslie Berry of Pediatrics at McMaster University presented A Novel Compound for Clinical Anticoagulant Treatment. The treatment itself is used to prevent blood clotting, an area of concern in North America, and an area in surgical and drug devices; a market both high and continuously increasing. The product that Berry showed us was an AT-Heparin (ATH) complex able to negate the limitations found in Heparin treatment alone. Some key points of ATH treatment is that AT always stays active to inhibit thrombin, ATH stays longer in the body than Heparin alone, and ATH can be linked to a surface to be used as a drug and as a device coating. To learn more about the department of Pediatrics at McMaster University, click here.
