Eric Brown
Eric
Brown is the Chair of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, and
the Canada Research Chair in Microbial Biochemistry. His presentation
was on Multicomponent Drug Discovery to Treat Bacterial Infection. The
idea is focused on new ways to kill bacteria after a 40 year innovative
gap in antibiotics. Brown believes that targeting one cell in a “dense
matrix” is not the way to go, but instead creating a multi component
drug is more effective and at a lower cost and risk. He emphasized the
fact that McMaster University is set up for this kind of research
because of its HTS lab, and that he is continually in search of new
partners. To read more about this research, click here.
