The biosciences are defined by the branches of science that involve living organisms, the relationships they have with each other and their environment.
Broadly inclusive, biotechnology, medical device manufacturing, environmental sciences, biomaterials, bioproducts, biomanufacturing, alternative energy and convergent technologies (e.g. nanotechnologies, information technology) comprise the biosciences sector represented by the GHBN.
Canada’s biotech industry is growing. It’s also diverse, comprising of a number of related but distinct disciplines that includes pharmaceuticals and vaccines, medical diagnostics, agriculture and foods, animal health, environmental management, industrial applications, and forensic testing.
